.........Says Nigeria Must Invest in Science, Medicine & Technology

The Founder of Leadership Initiative for Youths Foundation and deputy legal Adviser of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Delta State, Barr. Hessington Okolo, has commended Delta State Government led by His Excellency, Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa for being proactive in handling the Corona Virus pandemic.

Hessington gave the commendation on Monday while expressing worries at the inability of the Federal Government to trace some persons who had established contacts with some of the confirmed cases.

He charged the NCDC and the relevant ministries to brace up, and increase the nation's testing capacity noting that the virus must not be allowed to spread across the nation.

While calling on Nigerians and residents in Delta state to fully cooperate with the directives of the government, he said that the sacrifices of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa and all members of his Stronger Delta Team in working tirelessly to ensure the safety of Deltans must not be taken for granted.

"Despite the challenges that comes with the "Stay At Home Order", we must understand the problem the world is battling with and try as much as possible to adjust to stay safe".

Assuring Deltans that His Excellency Dr Ifeanyi Okowa can be trusted to do everything humanly possible to protect Deltans against the deadly virus, Barr. Hessington Okolo stressed that Nigeria cannot continue on the path of dependence to survival. " COVID-19 should teach us that we must invest in Science, Medicine and Technology ."

He further said that Africa and especially Nigeria must invest in our schools to become citadels for breaking new ground and producing new discoveries for mankind. " Our salvation lies in developing our land and pursuing innovative technologies, investing much in science and medicine to help reshape our world ", he said.

He called on God Almighty to heal those already suffering from the virus and consoled with those who have lost loved ones through the pandemic.

The Rt. Hon. Speaker of the Masses Assembly, as he's fondly called, equally urged Deltans to eat healthy, keep fit, wash hands regularly, practice social distancing, staying at home and also extending helping hands to people at this trying period.

"Let us together fight to defeat Corona virus AKA COVID-19. Please stay at home as directed by Delta State Government and extend a helping hand to people if you're opportune. At the end, we'll win this war by God's grace", he said.
