DELTA FOOD BANK: DESOPADEC COMMISSIONER, OSSAI OCHONOGOR HAILS GOV. OKOWA


The Government of Delta State has been commended for establishing a Food Bank and for distributing food palliatives to Deltans, aimed at cushioning the effect of the "lockdown" on residents of the state.

Dr. Ossai Samuel Ochonogor, the Commissioner representing Ukwuani LGA in the Board of DESOPADEC, gave the commendation on Monday at his Ebedei country home.

The government of Delta State in their fight against COVID-19 pandemic in the state had established a Food Bank to serve as palliative to residents of the state, especially the most vulnerable.

Consequently, the state government during the weekend opened up the food bank for onward distribution to all parts of the state.

Commending Gov. Ifeanyi Okowa, Dr. Ossai Ochonogor said that the food palliatives will go a long in cushioning the effect of the "lockdown" on Deltans, especially the vulnerable.

He noted the incalculable  sacrifices of Gov. Ifeanyi Okowa in containing the virus in the state, stressing that the food palliatives has again affirmed that Gov. Ifeanyi Okowa love Deltans and care about their welfare.

Ochonogor said that he is marveled at the state government’s excellent response and management of the COVID-19 outbreak in the state.

He hailed Gov. Okowa for distributing food items which included beans, indomie, rice, and other items aimed at cushioning the effect of the "lockdown" on Deltans.

Neye, as he's simply called by those who know him well and thousands of his admirers, added that
the intense awareness programmes done by the state government through her various agencies has really paid off in containing COVID-19 in the state.

"Due to the visionary and proactive leadership of Gov. Ifeanyi Okowa, Delta State has become a pace setter state in combating COVID-19, earning the commendation of the world",.

The DESOPADEC Commissioner thanked the Governor for the steps taken so far to contain the spread of COVID-19 pandemic in Delta State. "We're grateful to him for putting in his professional touch as a medical doctor in handling the challenges", he said.
