COVID-19: OJO DISTRIBUTES FOOD ITEMS TO UKWUANI RESIDENTS
In a bid to help cushion the effect of the proactive and preventive stay-at-home order by His Excellency Governor Ifeanyi Okowa aimed at curbing the spread of Corona Virus pandemic in Delta State, the Paraclete of Ukwuani people, Hon. Dr. Alphonsus Ojo has commenced the distribution of food items such as bags of rice, beans, cartons of indomie, hand sanitizers and face masks and cash support to residents in Ukwuani local government area of Delta State.
The gesture which is aimed at the most vulnerable within the Local Government, according to the former Delta Lawmaker, is to cushion the economic effects of the stay-at-home directive.
He explained that the gesture was to further encourage people to stay at home to curtail the spread of the disease.
"My focus is on the less privileged who are struggling to feed themselves at this trying period".
The Paraclete of Ukwuani people stressed that the distribution will not be influenced by political affiliations, as he will ensure that he supervise the distribution himself.
"The Government cannot do it alone without the support of individuals and members of the government."
Apart from the food times, Dr. Ojo will also give out cash support to some individuals.
Hon. Dr. Ojo encouraged the people to practice good personal hygiene, wash hands regularly, use hand sanitizers and practice social distancing.
