Cdr. Azubuike Samuel Idah (Rtd) attended United States Naval Engineering Propulsion School, before proceeding to Old Dominion University, Norfolk, Virginia, where he bagged BSc, International Business.
Cdr. Idah later proceeded to Saint Leo University, Saint Leo, Florida USA where he got his MBA Healthcare Management and currently in the last stages of his Doctorate in Healthcare Management in the same institution.
Cdr. Azubuike Samuel Idah (Rtd) has before now served in different places under different reputable organizations where he commendably distinguished himself as a reputable gentleman.
He is a man who has traversed virtually all stages in life. He served the defunct Bendel State as a Primary and later Secondary school teacher under the ministry of education.
He later moved to the United States where he served in United States Navy for 22 years of distinguished military service.
He runs a Real Estate business in the United States and also established Whispers & Lighthouse Foundation. Serving as the Chairman/CEO of the organization, the NGO is duly registered with the United States Internal Revenue Service and was granted Tax Exempt Status, State of Virginia Corporate Affairs Commission; Nigeria Corporate Affairs Commission; NAFDAC; EFCC; and Delta State Women Affairs Commission.
Cdr. Azubuike Samuel Idah (Rtd) founded the foundation out of his spontaneous love for his dear Delta State and Nigeria. The foundation gathers donated fairly used medical equipment, hospital exam beds, and medical supplies from the United States to be distributed free to Hospitals and primary Health care centres and clinics in Delta State.
The foundation sources medications from drug manufacturers and pharmacies in the United States for distribution to the impoverished free of charges. He also Organises free Healthcare Workshops as well.
Due to his immeasurable contributions to the affairs of Delta State and his contributions to humanity, he was in 2010, appointed into the Delta State Delta State School of Marine Technology, Burutu, as a member of the Governing Council.
During his time on the Board, he assisted in hiring Academic and non-Academic staffs. He worked with the school administrators and ensured it delivered
good quality education and educational system.
Cdr. Idah helped in formulating administrative policies and student welfare
that provided focus and fora for the involvement of community leaders
and the school community at large.
He ensured that the cultural and social diversity of the school community were considered and the needs of student groups were identified, given priority and were respected.
He was however in 2016, appointed into the Delta State Traffic Management Authority (DESTMA) as Director of Operations (DO).
As D.O DESTMA, he implemented and enforced policies, Liaised with the Director General and made decisions for Operational activities and set strategic goals.
He planned and monitored the day to day activities of DESTMA and ensured progress.
Idah also revised and formulated policies and ensured their implementation. He carried out so many duties as he also supervised Operations Staff and provided constructive feedback.
Cdr. Azubuike Samuel Idah (Rtd) managed relationships/ conflicts with Traffic Offenders, applied a Human Face Approach in a fair but firm manner in displaying capacity and justifying his capacity to serve.
Currently, he is serving as the Director General, DESTMA.
Events have shown that he is indeed a great Hero. A man of integrity who worked hard, distinguished himself and gained the trust of the society to get to where he is today.
But while many hail him for his record of professional victories, his level of success has also attracted detractors, which is a norm in our Nigeria of today.
But still, he frankly deserves accolades and solidarity for his track records of professional victories and services to the society. He is indeed an asset to the state and will continue to be a great partner of the Stronger Delta.
